James was wounded in action and discharged after honorably serving three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was diagnosed with both Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). After a long wait, Barrett was assigned to James to help cope with his injuries.
