The Pet Expert Advisory Council is an independent group of leading veterinarians and experts helping to shape our approach to total pet wellness across retail and digital pharmacy at Petsense by Tractor Supply and Allivet by Tractor Supply.
The Council serves as a thought and practice leader network composed of cross-species veterinarians and pet wellness specialists lending their expertise in support of operational excellence at Petsense and Allivet.
The mission of the Pet Expert Advisory Council is to elevate animal care standards at Petsense and Allivet, further education efforts and improve the health and wellness for Pets Out Here.
Dr. Nick Saint-Erne, DVM, joins Petsense’s Advisory Council with over 40 years of experience as a veterinarian, with a specialty in aquatic species. He is a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian and aconsultant for public aquariums, zoos, tropical fish farms, fish wholesalers, and has lent his expertise in aquatic animal care and quality assurance to organizations such as Pet Land, PetSmart, and the Pet Advocacy Network. Dr. Saint-Erne has served as an Executive Board Member for organizations like Pets in the Classroom and the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association, where heis a Distinguished Fellow. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has written two books on Fish Health, and is a chapter author in several other veterinary textbooks.
Dr. Kemba Marshall, MPH, DVM, joins the Pet Care Expert Advisory Council as a resident Bird Specialist, with 20 years of experience in animal care. Dr. Marshall has advised organizations like PetSmart and Petco on animal husbandry and care. She is the former Director of Veterinary Services for Land O’ Lakes Purina Animal Nutrition Center and has served as an Executive Board Member for organizations like Pets in the Classroom and the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
Dr. James Bogan, DVM, MVS, DABVP, is a practicing veterinarian and conservationist who joins the Pet Care Expert Advisory Council with over 30 years of experience in reptile and amphibian care. Dr. Bogan is the Chief Veterinary Officer for the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens and the Director of its Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation (OCIC). He is a clinician scientist and the author of 26 peer-reviewed articles seen in scientific journals and a co-author of veterinary medical textbook chapters covering reptiles and amphibians. Dr. Bogan was the recipient of the 2025 Reptile & Amphibian Veterinary Excellence Award from the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians.
Dr. Taylor Lewis, DVM, DABVP (ECM), is a practicing veterinarian and exotic companion mammal specialist, joining Petsense’s Advisory Council with 10 years of clinical experience. Dr.Lewis is a veterinarian at the Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital, where she treats a wide variety of species, including birds, mammals, and reptiles. She completed veterinary externships at the Wildlife Center of Virginia and Ag Production Enterprises, Inc, as well as served as the overnight Herd Health Manager for Jacobson Deer Farm in 2010.
Dr. Efrem Hunter is a veterinary executive whose 20-plus-year career encompasses clinical practice, corporate hospital leadership, animal health innovation, product sales and digital pharmacy platforms. He has optimized clinical operations, supported breakthrough therapies, and developed e-commerce solutions for organizations including Banfield Pet Hospital, Novartis Animal Health (now part of Elanco Animal Health), 1800PetMeds, and others. Dr. Hunter worked with Allivet by Tractor Supply Co. to support the co-design and launch of the EZPetRx.com platform, to streamline digital prescription approvals and strengthen collaboration between veterinarians and online pharmacy services. He is also a member of the AVMA Legislative Advisory Committee and the American Association of Industry Veterinarians.
Ondrea Johnson is the Director of the Williamson County Animal Center, bringing over 25 years of experience in animal shelter and rescue to Pet Care Expert Advisory Council. As Director, Johnson oversees all operations at WCAC, both at their 35,000 square foot facility in Franklin, Tennessee and in the field. She manages both full-time staff, including an onsite veterinarian and four animal control officers, and a robust volunteer program. Under Johnson’s leadership, WCAC was recognized byThe National Association of Counties for its programs and services which engage the community through education, support and free or low-cost resources to assist pet owners.
